When we get customers whose PC’s won’t even boot up to windows in normal mode or safe mode and need a system repair, not having your Operating System CD can pose an issue in some instances. Some customers were only given recovery CD’s from the company they bought the PC from, this too can pose issues in retaining personal data.

The difference between a Operating System CD and Recovery CD?

Operating System CD

An operating system CD is a CD that contains the installations files for installing your operating system rather it be windows XP, Vista, or 7. This is the best CD to have for emergency situations because Support Nerds Technicians are able to walk you through a system repair keeping all your personal documents in tact such as pictures, and office documents. Today most PC’s are shipping with the OS on the hard drive which will also pose quite a few issues to most customers of Support Nerds.

Recovery CD

A recovery CD and recovery CD’s placed on a separate hard drive partition are a pain to work with. Mainly for the reason that instead of being able to repair the OS, they only give you the option to restore your computer to the day you bought it meaning a loss of all your personal documents such as your pictures. This is not an option for most users because losing their personal pictures would be horrible. We can only hope that the major PC carriers will change this process and start providing OEM installation CD’s again.

How to Keep your Personal Documents when You only Have a Recovery CD

Support Nerds has developed a Live Recovery CD that enables us to boot your PC off of our custom built operating system on our recovery CD, which we then can upload all your personal documents to our secure servers then perform a recovery and put your personal documents on your PC so you experience 0% data loss.

If you are having this issue and do not want to lose your personal documents in the process of fixing your computer, start a chat with a Support Nerds Tech, or call us toll free at (866)960-0592 and we can assist and ensure all your data is safe.

Cloud Computing has become a new buzz word among the technology community and now being used by businesses all the way up the government, so what is cloud computing and what can it do for your business?

Cloud computing is a paradigm of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the Internet. Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the technology infrastructure in the “cloud” that supports them.

Now let’s be honest, that doesn’t make much since to the common person, so what is the cloud and what can the cloud do for you? The best example is to take a company for example, in this case, we’ll use Support Nerds.

Before cloud computing became an option Support Nerds would of had to buy its own servers for its internal phone system, web servers for its web site, and additional servers for data management and other forms of communication. As Support Nerds grew it would continually have to upgrade hardware to facilitate the needs of a growing business thus costing the company overhead by additional I.T. employees and hardware installation, not to mention down time when the computers have to be repaired or upgraded.

With cloud computing, everything is performed remotely from data centers, so in a cloud scenario, Support Nerds would have its phone system stored in a data center by a company who specilizes in PBX systems, and the website be stored via a hosting company. So when it comes time to grow, the faciliated needs are only a stone throw away saving the company overhead and time by allowing the cloud to carrying them where they need to go.
