A brand new computer, or just a tune up?

While there is numerous reasons your PC may be under-performing, there is some basic signs you must take note of. Often times, people quickly go out and spend $1500+ for a brand new computer, when all they really needed was for a technical expert to take a look at it and perform a routine PC Tuneup. If you are always on guard for these signs, you can save a lot of money in the long run by being able to spot when your computer is in need of a PC Tuneup. Simple PC Tuneups can improve your PC performance drastically, so it is vital you know the difference between a dead computer and simple computer troubles that can be fixed for less than $50.

3 Signs it’s Time for a PC Tuneup

Computer Freezing

This is a common problem, and there is multiple reasons your computer may suddenly freeze. A freeze is basically when your mouse refuses to move, or your PC fails to respond to your keyboard. Freezing is annoying because it forces a user shut down their computer, and sometimes is risky when an individual hasn’t saved certain information, thus causing them to lose it all.

Drivers, Files, and Programs
Computer freezing can be caused by a certain driver , file, or program you previously downloaded. The file may be incompatible with another program you use. Sometimes a file on your computer may have a virus, which is causing it to freeze.

Browser HiJacks
Another big cause of freezing is linked to spyware or malware that has intruded your browser, and your computer will not stop freezing unless these problems are scanned and fixed accordingly.

Hard Drive & Memory Efficiency
More often then not, your computer may freeze and fail to respond because your cpu’s hard drive is too full and your computer’s memory is being compromised. This usually means you have too many programs, or you are running too many things at once. When this happens, your computer can not manage those resources simultaneously, thus causing it to freeze.

Overheating
Sometimes, freezing is caused by something as simple as CPU overheating, which is caused by dust build up in your cpu tower & power supply.

Computer Lagging

Computer lagging will make almost impossible or downright annoying for you to move from one task to another task. For instance, you may open your browser from desktop, and it takes 2 minutes just to open, or you may open Microsoft word or paint, and half of the program shows and it takes forever for the other half to appear on the screen. Performing simple tasks like playing music or opening a program become painstaking because your computer won’t load anything fast or properly.

The main reason for computer lagging is due to the lack of efficiency in your cpu’s memory or hard drive space. This means you probably have too many programs, or there may be some files that are incompatible with others. Often times, your browser may lag if your browser has been infected with a virus or some form of malware. Visting websites with ads or pop ups can trigger this.

Computer Shuts Down unexpectedly.

The Dreaded ‘Blue Screen of Death’
This happens when your computer’s screen suddenly turns blue, and displays a frightening message that isn’t understandable to the common PC user. This usually happens because your computer is hi-jacked by a virus, or your computer’s memory is low and unable to manage the PC’S resources properly. Basically, your computer needs to be cleaned and scanned thoroughly if you expect it to work again.

Computer Registry Problems
Sometimes your computer’s registry isn’t working efficiently and needs to be scanned and checked. Your registry is the central part of your computer, think of it is a command center for your CPU’s entire operation. When something goes wrong in the registry, your computer can leg, freeze, or shutdown immediately with no warning.

No need for a new computer, just have a certified Computer Expert tune you up.
These three Common Problems can be fixed in less then an hour with a PC Tuneup. Have one of our Certified Techs who specializes in these issues take a look and perform a PC Tuneup and save you money by extending the life of your PC. Once your computer is tuned up and can manage things properly again, You’ll notice an increase in computer speed and overall performance, It will feel brand new!

It takes forever to start up and forever to load a program not to mention programs constantly crash and the internet moves like molasses. Lets first lay down the fact that PC’s are like cars, they do require up keep to maintain healthy and fast performance. So what can you do to avoid computer repair and extend the life of that computer? Follow the suggestions below and we guarantee you will extend the life of your computer and remain happy with your computers performance.

Anti-Virus Software

As soon as you get your PC, the next best thing you can do is purchase anti-virus software. While we off MalwareBytes with our PC Total Care Service which protects your from viruses and malware, you may decide to go with an alternate. Decide what best suites you. While AVG, AdAware, and others are free to the public, I can personally tell you they do not protect as well as paid anti-virus choices. Next to MalwareBytes, my next recommendation is Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite. I like this software because it is easy for the end user to manage and does a very decent job of protecting while also offering Zone Alarms robust Firewall Protection.

Defrag! Defrag! Defrag!

I cannot stress this enough, Defragging your PC is a mandatory task that I suggest takes place once a month. While your PC comes with free defragging software, I suggest the free alternative Defraggler. A computer becomes fragmented when data is stored throughout the hard drive disk space instead of organized all together which slows down your PC causing longer load times. Running a De-fragmentation of your hard drive can be the difference between night and day.

Cleaning Your Startup Items

All too often when cleaning someone’s PC, we at Support Nerds find that they have a heavy amount of start-up items which slows down the time the PC takes to load because it has to load all of those items on boot. Now if you are not familiar with MSCONFIG and using that tool, I suggest that you connect to one of the Certified U.S. Based Experts at Support Nerds and allow them to assist you in tuning up your PC.

Windows Update

I see it all too often when customers do not have the latest service pack. It is important to always stay connected to Windows for updates as they release updates that are important for your operating system on a daily basis. Neglecting to perform service updates can result in slow running systems, security vulnerabilities and much more.
