When we get customers whose PC’s won’t even boot up to windows in normal mode or safe mode and need a system repair, not having your Operating System CD can pose an issue in some instances. Some customers were only given recovery CD’s from the company they bought the PC from, this too can pose issues in retaining personal data.

The difference between a Operating System CD and Recovery CD?

Operating System CD

An operating system CD is a CD that contains the installations files for installing your operating system rather it be windows XP, Vista, or 7. This is the best CD to have for emergency situations because Support Nerds Technicians are able to walk you through a system repair keeping all your personal documents in tact such as pictures, and office documents. Today most PC’s are shipping with the OS on the hard drive which will also pose quite a few issues to most customers of Support Nerds.

Recovery CD

A recovery CD and recovery CD’s placed on a separate hard drive partition are a pain to work with. Mainly for the reason that instead of being able to repair the OS, they only give you the option to restore your computer to the day you bought it meaning a loss of all your personal documents such as your pictures. This is not an option for most users because losing their personal pictures would be horrible. We can only hope that the major PC carriers will change this process and start providing OEM installation CD’s again.

How to Keep your Personal Documents when You only Have a Recovery CD

Support Nerds has developed a Live Recovery CD that enables us to boot your PC off of our custom built operating system on our recovery CD, which we then can upload all your personal documents to our secure servers then perform a recovery and put your personal documents on your PC so you experience 0% data loss.

If you are having this issue and do not want to lose your personal documents in the process of fixing your computer, start a chat with a Support Nerds Tech, or call us toll free at (866)960-0592 and we can assist and ensure all your data is safe.

The Ability to Assist Customers Remotely and Recover from 99% of Problems

Support Nerds is proud to announce the release of it’s Disaster Recovery CD. This disaster recovery CD is added to the list of growing options our technicians have to fight viruses and other common PC problems. It allows our experts to fix severe root kit malware and viruses and other problems that result in a disabled operating system.

Multiple Options to Obtain Recovery CD

Customers are able to download our Recovery program onto a secondary computer and then burn it to a CD. The customer then puts the CD into the affected computer and powers that computer on. Now our technicians have the ability to access the affected system from our Recovery program. If the customer does not have a CD burner we are able to mail a CD directly to the customer which will arrive in 1 to 3 days. Even if we need to mail the software to you, this is often still a faster option for operating system recovery than bringing your computer to a repair shop because we will work on your issue the day you get the CD.
